History
In the early seventies the leaders from the Boise Church of God and the Meridian Church of God had a vision to sell the two existing churches, pool their resources, and build a new facility located between the two towns. After much prayer and discussion, the church leaders believed God to be leading them to locate the new church in southwest Boise. At that time not much existed in southwest Boise other than farms. Never the less, the churches stepped out in faith. Now some 30 years later it is easy to see how God has blessed their sacrifices and persistence. Cloverdale Church of God is currently located on 16.5 acres in the fastest growing area of Boise.
Core Values
Principles that guide our decision making:
- The Bible is our authority and is relevant for us today.
- In worship we celebrate God’s presence and involvement in our lives.
- Spiritual growth is a daily process resulting in a changing life.
- Every person is important to God and, therefore, valued by us.
- We experience life in its fullness through vital, Christ-centered relationships.
- We believe excellence honors God and inspires people.
- We approach life with a servant attitude.
- God has given every believer spiritual gifts to use in His church.
- Leadership is reserved for those demonstrating exemplary commitment to Christ and this church.
- God calls all believers to unity in Christ.
Beliefs
- The Bible is the perfect, inerrant, and inspired Word of God.
- God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son. Born of a virgin, He took the form of man; through His sinless life He taught humanity how to live. He was crucified as a sacrifice for our sins; He rose from the dead, according to the scriptures, and returned to heaven to prepare a place for us; He will come again to receive believers into the presence of God.
- Men and women were created in God’s image, were tempted by Satan and rebelled against God. Through repentance and personal faith in Christ, we are forgiven of our sins, reborn in a new relationship with God and placed into the body of Christ.
